How To Write a Warning Letter To a Copyright Violator?

letter to violaterThis post is a part of the series on Online plagiarism and republication of unauthorized content. In this tutorial you will learn polite ways of dealing copyright infringement. Suppose you found a web owner who willingly or unwillingly copies your content and published it without your permission, or you found him sharing your content without a backlink (credit link). Now how should you approach him and what should you say? Here are some ways of writing Polite death warrants to the abusers.

Letter To Violator With Duplicate Content

If your entire original content is copied and published on another blog that does not belong to you without your permission then you must contact the web admin in this way:

PS: In each case replace Mohammad with your name and MBT BLOG with your site name.

"Respected Admin,

We have found your article i.e. http://www.xyz.com/zyz.html as a complete violation of our copyrights. The article is a duplicate copy of the original post published on MBT @ http://mbt.com/xyz.html. Republication of such content is a serious loss to our SERP ranking and reputation. We thereby request you to remove the post completely within 48 hours.

Letter To Violator With No Credit Link

If someone shares your resources like in my case these resources are tutorials, widget codes, Icons, Buttons and templates etc. and that person does not acknowledge your efforts by giving attaching an attribution link on his post that may link to your homepage or resource page then you have complete right to demand your right. Sometimes people do link back but add a nofollow tag to your link so that search robots may not index that link and increase your search ranking. This is again a serious loss to you because nofollow link is equivalent to no link.

This is how you should write a polite notification to the violator:

"Respected Admin,

We have found that you have shared our tutorial with your audience without our permission. Our resource has been attributed with a nofollow tag. This is a complete violation of our Copyrights. We thereby request you to attach a proper credit backlink to the original post or remove the post completely within 48 hours.

Failure to comply will result in a complete deletion of your article. Your URL will be reported to both AdSense and GOOGLE DMCA. We therefore expect sincere cooperation from your side in this case.

Original Content URL: http://mbt.com/xyz.html

Violated Content URL: http://www.xyz.com/zyz.html

MBT’s Crackdown On Copyright Violators Begins

REPORT copyright-violationJust yesterday I submitted several URLs for violating our terms of service and for infringing our articles. Almost every post published at this blog is republished as duplicate on several other blogs and forums. Unfortunately most of these violators include our subscribers. Despite mentioning clearly that efforts should be respected by giving attribution to MBT blog whenever the content from this blog is shared somewhere else but instead most people violate our copyrights by sharing the templates, icons and widgets with their own names thereby taking all credits to themselves.

I never understand these people and the ethical background that they belong to. We have therefore decided to take strict action against those who share our content without our permission and attribute us with a no follow tag. We have reserved a fixed quote of blog revenue for fighting Copyright Infringement. We have already successfully deleted many posts shared by violators with the help of Blogger and AdSense and we will continue doing so at pro level with the help of DMCA.

I will share URLs and stories of some violators who have been already identified by us, reported to AdSense, Blogger and DMCA and successfully removed. We will share evidences of those reports today.

I personally thank my loyal readers for always being a support and motivation. I thank those who often inform us about copyright violators and abusers.  I will always need your help. Please inform us as soon as you see any of our tutorial being copied on another blog. Also report blogs which doesn’t link to us despite sharing our tricks with their own words.

I will be writing several posts on online plagiarism and republication of unauthorized content. I will also mention free ways of reporting a website to these services

  1. AdSense
  2. AdWords
  3. Android Market
  4. Blogger/Blogspot
  5. Gmail
  6. Image Search
  7. Orkut
  8. Picasa
  9. Web Search
  10. YouTube

All this crack down is done to make sure we provide you with quality and unique content. I will make sure you are served to the best level possible.  Now you can blog happily without worrying about some people who will never cooperate and rather enjoy eating your hard earned revenue.

Show Author Photo in Google Search Results Page

You need three things,

  1. A website or blog that you own
  2. A Google Plus Account
  3. An About Me page on your blog. If you already have an about page where information about author is given then you need not worry. However if you don’t have an about page then you must create one now.

If you have met the above three conditions then you may follow these steps:

  1. On your website sidebar or header or footer add this link,

    <a href="https://plus.google.com/GOOGLE+ ID"
      rel="author" target="_blank"> Join me on Google+</a>

PS: Do not remove rel="author" else the trick wont work!

Replace GOOGLE+ ID with your Google profile link id. You can get your Google Plus ID by going to your Google Plus profile page and then copy the digital code from your browser address bar as shown below,

    Google+ profile url

    Google plus ID

You can edit the text Join me on Google+ if you wish.

Example of author link on my blog:

    google-plus-author-link

  2. Next go to your About Me page and add this link anywhere you want,

    <a href="https://plus.google.com/GOOGLE+ ID"
      rel="me" target="_blank"> My Google Profile</a>

Again replace the Google+ ID with your Profile ID. You can edit the text My Google Profile if you wish.

Example of link on my blog:

    about-page

  3. Now go to your G+ profile and click the “Edit Profile” button

    image

Then click on the "LINKS" area as shown below,

    google+ links settings

Add your Blog/site homepage URL and also the URL of your About page. You can also add your Facebook and twitter links if you wish.

    1. Go to http://profiles.google.com/me/plusones.
    2. Click Edit Profile.
    3. Check the Show this tab on my profile checkbox.
  4. Next Upload a quality Profile Pic of your self . Your image will look best if it is 150px by 150px in size. To learn about Google+ image Dimensions Click here

  5. Finally Save your profile and you are almost done.

Test How your profile photo will appear on SERPs

Now you need to see how your image will appear. Click here and submit your homepage link in the search box and hit preview as shown below,

google-profile-image

If you have followed all steps correctly then you will be able to clearly see your photo and name appearing next to your blog title and description. You will also see this green message: "Verified: Authorship markup is correct for this page"

Your authorship is verified only when you have fulfilled all requirements correctly. I will summarize todays tutorial once again so that you may know what to do:

SUMMARY:

  1. You need to add two links on your site. The first one is to be added on your sidebar, footer or header. The second one is to be added on your about page.
  2. Add your site homepage link and about link on Google+
  3. Add a clean profile photo of at least 150px by 150px in size.
